The Client
This organisation is a leading provider of income protection insurance to both companies and individuals.
The Problem
Dedicated return to work programmes are an important part of income protection schemes. They require several different groups to interact, including claims management and external specialists such as occupational therapists and psychologists. This organisation realised it was spending a considerable proportion of effort on administering the return to work programme - as high as 60% in some weeks. External healthcare professionals used a variety of data input tools, including spreadsheets and emails, to report progress on specific cases. because of this, MI production relied on substantial manual data transfer between multiple spreadsheets. It also meant that certain types of ad hoc analysis were too time consuming to perform.
The Solution
We developed a combined business management and performance reporting tool that would enable external health consultants to enter assessment reports and other client information via a standard web-based front end. Once the data was being captured centrally in this way, we also established a framework for MI reporting that operated automatically from the newly consolidated data.
Benefits
By making the entire system web-enabled, we were able to provide real-time access to performance reporting via the desktop, as well as remote access. The ability to access performance data at an individual healthcare consultant level meant significant enhancements to quality control and the overall management of external resources. Removing extensive manual intervention also reduced the time spent on administration.
