Optimising Business Intelligence and Operational MI
This is about helping organisations achieve sustainable performance improvement through the better use and deployment of management information.
We focus on the management information framework required to support decision-making. Without effective, timely and relevant management information, performance improvement effort is easily mis-directed, and valuable resources wasted. And yet many front-line and executive managers are trying to work with too much of the wrong type of management information.
Many analysts, as well as business users, have commented on the difficulty of using the large business intelligence applications. Our approach is designed to meet today's challenges by helping business people approach their MI needs in a new way that is directlt linked to the actions they can take to influence performance improvement.
At its heart is a structured approach to helping managers understand the nature of the information they really need to support operational performance. Once this is clear, a detailed specification can be drawn up for implementation through an existing BI/MI toolset. Alternatively it provides the basis for a vendor selection exercise.

"If you think IT is the solution to your problem, then you don't understand IT, and you don't understand your problem either" - Roger Needham, Professor of Computer Science, Cambridge
"[Management Information] is the delivery and presentation of actionable information directly into the path of those best qualified to exploit its latent value. The technology has to be made to work seamlessly within the fabric of the business." - The Butler Group, 2004
"In a typical packaged BI/MI solution, 80% of the cost is directed towards implementing advanced functionality that is used by only 20% of users" - The Data Warehousing Institute, 2008
